The biggest lesson we have learned throughout our years of shooting weddings is that timing is everything. Real moments happen in an instant. Wait too long to click that button and the candor of the moment is gone. Try as hard as you might to recreate it and it just won’t be the same. The smiles not as genuine, the body language not as spontaneous. Photojournalistic sincerity is important to us when documenting weddings. Sure, some direction is needed, but it is within that the magic happens, often when least expected. Rachna and Paul's backyard wedding was an intimate event of close family and friends and a wedding like no other we had ever witnessed. The most unique aspect of their wedding was that we got to capture both a Hindu (red) and Sikh (pink) ceremonies organized back to back that afternoon. These ceremonies symbolized the union of two souls, their families and religions becoming one. We kept our cameras up and didn't get caught up with what we wanted the picture to look like.. instead followed the moments and let their personalities shine through.
